Inovio reports their quarterly report after the market close. Right now the market is reacting negatively. It seems that the Covid 19 vaccine INO 4800 is viewed as laggard compared to some of the others. The reason is because INO4800 is a DNA based vaccine and the FDA will want them to cross all the t's and dot the i's . This is why Inovio is going through such a painful process compared to the others.
However, if the vaccine race is a horse race I would think of Inovio as "a mudder". This is a horse that runs very stable on a rainy muddy track and will run past the others slipping and sliding away where it may lag the others on a sunny fine day. The vaccines have yet to pass the FDA process and adverse affects in the safety profile are closely monitored as well as efficacy. So far, reports are that the safety profile of INO4800 is quite good in Phase 1. There have been anecdotal reports of a few Phase 1 people being exposed to Covid 19 and not catching it.
Inovio has a pipeline of cancer treatments that use their DNA process. The data seems to show that the Inovio process works to change the body to create fighter T cells to the genetic profile of the particular target. INO longs can look to results coming on GBM brain cancer and cervix cancer coming later this year. Also, there is possibility of further INO4800 funding yet from DoD and other various organizations.
I am thinking "long" on Inovio at the moment. However it's a tough one to hold long these days. It's one of those stocks where you may "feel technically correct" but the market takes it the other way in the near term. Well, the Inovio conference call is later today. We will see said the blind man. I am long on some Inovio stock but it kind of hurts to watch it right now. Perhaps the CEO will have answers to ease investor's concerns about INO4800 seeming to lag the other vaccines that got funded by the OWS team.
