One reason WHY Inovio's INO4800 may get Emergency Use Authorization - GBS

Today, I will cover  a possible reason why Inovio's Covid 19 vaccine  should be granted Emergency Use Authorization by the FDA.

Guillain- Barre Syndrome (GBS): 

It is a neurological disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system, the part of the nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord. The onset of GBS can be quite sudden and unexpected and requires immediate hospitalization.

I once had two family members (in laws) brothers and both physicians that both came down with GBS.  And, it was not a pretty sight.  The effects were life threatening, debilitating and lasting. It took years to overcome the crippling effects and some still linger.  I have personally witnessed this.

And what triggered all of the above?  Yep, a simple flu shot.

The rest of the family observed these two doctors health deteriorate to where they had to stop doctoring and close up their practice. One forever and the other took two years before recovering. 

Now do you think these two brothers and doctors will EVER get a conventional flu shot again? Further,  what about the family of these brothers? - their children and nieces and nephews who helplessly watched the deterioration of their father's robust tennis playing life style and health- ALL just from a flu shot ?

Even if and  when a vaccine is developed for Covid -19,  I seriously doubt that anybody who witnesses how a family member is crippled by GBS as triggered by just one flu shot - will ever want to try a conventional flu vaccine, even IF for Covid -19.

Enter Inovio's INO-4800 vaccine.  This is my understanding of the way it is designed and the advantage:

First, Inovio's vaccine is a new type of  DNA vaccine that is delivered through a process called  "electroportation" .  The  patented Inovio "Cellectra "device is used to give the skin a tiny zap of electricity to embed the DNA instructions, like a recipe at the DNA level to recognize Covid -19 and in the case of INO4800, the recent mutant as well. From there, the body is now trained to recognize the pathogen and create the messenger RNA cells that are now trained to create the exact balanced  antibodies and fighter T cells to recognize the Covid 19 as an invader and either suppress it at the infection site and/or created durable lasting t cells that will defeat the virus in the body.  See my own ad hoc " peer review " of INO 4800 in a previous post.

For the above reason that INO 4800 is not a conventional vaccine but a new type with different delivery and processing techniques it will be less likely, in my opinion, to trigger such ailments as Guillain- Barre Syndrome.

 If 20,000 people come down with GBS  I will predict that an average of ten related family members may witness the debilitating effects.  Right there, it will mean to add approximately another 200,000 people that will not take a conventional  Covid 19 vaccine. Is GBS hereditary?  I will say YES , if not bodily it sure in the mind as something to be avoided. And the people that don't take the flu shot may be the ones at high risk.

This is just one reason that the FDA may be watching INO-4800 for EUA status. There are other's such as listed in the DOD contract for the Cellectra devices and health care workers.

Monday Monday can't trust that day. This is how I feel about some stocks today.

Nikola (NKLA) :  New companies entering the electric vehicle field muddies the race track.  New comer NKLA has a long way to go, like years, before actually delivering on an electric vehicle on time and on budget. In the meantime?   yea the monkeys can play.

Inovio (INO):  I watch the major networks interview what they call "top doctors" on Corona vaccine progress. They all speak of the FOUR candidates and "promising" things coming.  BUT not ONE mentioned Inovio.  It seems in the near term "the fix"by the Trump OWS team  is in and it's not Inovio at this present time.  I somewhat fault Inovio for for not striking the PR world when the iron is hot.  Waiting for a "peer review"?  yea ok , whatever. I gave them my own review.  I still hold some Inovio for the long term potential of the Brain and Cervical cancer pipeline - but their near term volatility and whipsaws down have soured me some on Inovio. I think Inovio PR has failed the little people that got shook out in order to "save themselves"  in that last whip saw down. Waiting for one of the four horses to falter seems dicey if not faulty. I'm in a "few some shares"  of INO, for now anyway.

Co-Diagnostics (CODX)

Motely fool had a decent article on CODX Co-Diagnostics (CODX) reported earnings and while a nice increase and positive, disappointed....

"Co-Diagnostics reported revenue in Q2 of $24 million and net income of $12.6 million, or $0.46 per diluted share. While those results reflected significant improvement over the prior-year period, they fell far short of what analysts were expecting. The consensus analysts' estimate projected revenue of $26.5 million and earnings of $0.59 per share."

The Yale saliva test is in the news but the CODX is also FDA approved.  Not having taken part in the whipsaw down makes me wonder if CODX is a buy opportunity.  Hey, earnings of 46 cents a share were not too shabby.

The Jones prediction on Inovio's INO4800 safety and efficacy . (just my opinion)

When in the market we all make predictions. I will now predict what the INO 4800 findings to provide an immune response for Covid 19 will be:

 My own "Peer Review"-  ad hoc.

This is my estimate of INO4800 efficacy. It may not stop you from getting Covid 19 and it may stop you. But there is high chance that you won't even know you had it because if the antibodies don't stop it the T cells will. And the viral load will be small and much less contagious.

In addition the adverse effects will be minimal.
I predict INO4800 will provide an immune response for the majority that take it. If exposed to Covid 19 AND the more recent mutant -- if you catch Covid 19 and "it takes" it will be minimal where you wont even know it or like a cold and then the t cells will take over and refute the virus quickly with lower chance of spreading it . These are my preliminary findings . Thus I predict  INO4800 will work and Covid 19 would be rendered from harmless to no more than just another cold to people inoculated with INO4800.

One final point that may be a serious INO4800 advantage. The protection from INO4800 may be durable, longer lasting, for Covid 19 and mutants because the DNA is the brain of the messenger RNA cells.  In other words messenger RNA cells originate from the DNA.

With the advantage of long shelf life at room temperature with INO4800 as opposed to super cooling required in mRNA based vaccines, it seems that the OWS team has slighted Inovio in the funding department.

This is all just my opinion (jmo) from what I have read.

82 days away straight talk and stock Talk - watching Nikola and still watching the dark horse Inovio.

Before I start this post, I want to declare that I am independent, neither Republican or Democrat.  We are just 82 days away from Nov 3. Can you believe it? Just around the bend, America's future will be determined.  If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris do win, prepare for some huge changes coming that American's will regret.  First off I will borrow a point from Bill O' Riley. A Biden win would be the end of a two party system.  It will be a one party future. Why?  Because the democrats want to make over 20 million illegal immigrants automatic citizens, open all borders, no walls, no border enforcement such as ICE,  de-fund the police, close oil down , free health care like medicare for all that will cost over 50 TRILLION dollars! Basically the democrats want to buy their way into power. Once there, that will mean the end to reasonable discourse in America, high taxes, socialism and a Venezuelan like future.

For this reason, as an INDEPENDENT , I can't vote Democrat this year.  Too much is at stake. I did vote for Obama.  But- if you want to give America away to a globalism, go ahead!  For example, what will happen-  Government run healthcare. But healthcare will decline in quality like the ole VA system before the rules changes where vets could seek private healthcare.  High taxes to create "social equality".

yea right.  Turn on the TV.  Did you see what the tonight show did?

They fired the white guy - Higgins that cracked jokes with Jimmy Fallon.  and Jimmy Fallon?  he went over to the New York Times elite non stop bashing President Trump. But the funny thing he's NOT funny!  They got rid of Higgins (got rid of the white man! as they say) and now Fallon just yaks with the mostly all black band.  Not funny though.  Soon I predict Jimmy Fallon will be replaced by?  yep.  

My daughter went to BLM demonstration. It was peaceful and she left just at curfew in nyc. She came home and I told her I am not a big fan of BLM. She asked why Dad?  I told her I favor ALM - all lives matter. She got angry at me and left the room. 

I love all people.  If Joe Biden had picked a Black person like say - Charles Barkley, the 76 basketball player and now announcer. Oh my it would have been great. I have watched Barkley as an American and yes a Black man but one  with all Americans and he has common sense with HUMOR.  In short he is color blind, like me.  Is there injustice?  yes, but knocking down statues of George Washington and Christopher Columbus and be-heading them? to quote one democrat- Come on man! Fight it within the system.

I don't want Antifa running America!

I am watching Nikola (NKLA).  An upstart in electric vehicles with no earnings yet but landing contracts. Speculative? yep. But  a huge garbage truck contract and a potential pickup truck contract may be competition to Tesla. Look at Tesla share price. Did I hear the flamboyant Mr. Musk say even he thought Tesla  was over-priced last month? This is a fair article on NKLA.

when buying a speculative new IPO, there a sometimes factors beyond fundamentals to watch.  I mean , look at Amazon. for years it seemed like the stock was too high based on earnings fundamentals. Then it caught up to share price. Will that happen with NKLA?  I do not know said the blind man. However, a new pick up truck contract with the recent refuse truck contract may cement the notion in the investment community that NKLA may be the real deal.

 now on to another stock ..

Inovio (INO)?  It's a dark horse I call a mudder in the vaccine arena. But the real enchilada is in the cancer pipeline.  Readjusted my small position to cut loss from the fade but still have "some" to be in the game with some INO should INO 4800 funding come in or wait to see how long shares work out with the GBM and Cervical Cancer drugs in the pipeline. Targeted T cells to make up for some people's genetic pre-disposition to cancer seem to be working from early data.

Maybe a small share holding of INO may be a way to take part in possible near term upside should the other vaccines falter or Inovio shine in on going Phase 1 clinical studies that would result in OWS or CEPI funding. But after this week's market beating, I am not counting on it.  Still, it is possible because the T cells and antibodies generated by INO4800 DNA vaccine may precisely target Covid 19. Well maybe it's all too late and Johnson and Johnson have it locked up?  Only the future will say, not me. I will surrender and hold just some INO. I had too much into it before and got "kilt".

When "gone long" hurts the balance too much ...

It 's no secret here.  I've been watching Inovio. It seemed like a technically correct company trying to deploy their advanced DNA vaccine to the forefront of helping solve the Covid 19 pandemic.  Yet, Inovio got stalled in due FDA process that is typical for proving a vaccine. Meanwhile, they rushed through vaccines like Moderna's with less scrutiny.  There is some news that Moderna shares the patent with NIH. Do you think there may be a little bias there?  No matter that Moderna's vaccine requires super cooling for storage and transport.

 But it hurts to feel technically correct but wrong about the market perception. whipsaws over n over again on a position are hard to withstand.

I posted yesterday I surrender on thinking "long" in a market that sells with the click of a button on  perceived near term uncertainty.

As Inovio continues the sell off today, I am sidelined . I had "gone long" too soon and had "too much" on it.  I got frustrated as the stock tanked over 4 pts and said forget it.  I recall how DNDN traded from the 30's and 40's back to single digits.

However, I still can't help but think Inovio is a stock to watch and is a "mudder" in horse racing terms.  This is a fairly balanced article on why Inovio is still selling off today.

Now that it's dumped, maybe I'll buy back a 100 shares of Inovio just to "go long" or trade with and see how this INO mudder runs when the rain comes.

Nikola wins a big garbage truck contract for electric vehicles .. and other

Nikola (NKLA) landed a big contract with  Republic services for garbage trucks to be tested in the 2022.

Inovio reports their quarterly report after the market close.  Right now the market is reacting negatively.  It seems that the Covid 19 vaccine INO 4800  is viewed as laggard compared to some of the others. The reason is because INO4800 is a DNA based vaccine and the FDA will want them to cross all the t's and dot the i's .  This is why Inovio is going through such a painful process compared to the others.  

However, if the vaccine race is a horse race I would think of Inovio as "a mudder".  This is a horse that runs very stable on a rainy muddy track and will run past the others slipping and sliding away where it may lag the others on a sunny fine day. The  vaccines have yet to pass the FDA process and adverse affects in the safety profile are closely monitored as well as efficacy. So far, reports are  that the safety profile of INO4800 is quite good in Phase 1. There have been anecdotal reports of a few Phase 1 people being exposed to Covid 19 and not catching it.

Inovio has a pipeline of cancer treatments that use their DNA process.  The data seems to show that the Inovio process works to change the body to create fighter T cells to the genetic profile of the particular target.  INO longs can look to results coming on GBM brain cancer and cervix cancer coming later this year.  Also, there is possibility of further INO4800 funding yet from DoD and other various organizations.

 I am thinking "long" on Inovio at the moment.  However it's a tough one to hold long these days.  It's one of those stocks where you may "feel technically correct"  but the market takes it the other way in the near term.   Well, the Inovio conference call is later today. We will see said the blind man.   I am long on some Inovio stock but it kind of hurts to watch it right now. Perhaps the CEO will have answers to ease investor's concerns about INO4800 seeming to lag the other vaccines that got funded by the OWS team.
