Market Talk
The overall markets, while at all time highs, seem to be rolling along in range as the country gauges how things will change. Yes, things will change. Regarding stocks, there is some positioning and sector rotations that may be happening to account for changing economic policies. Like a coin spinning on a table, it may look like both heads and tails all at the same time. This will lead us into stock talk on an area capturing market interest : Quantum computing.
Stock Talk
Today, let's start on a few sectors that are capturing a lot of market interest. One sector that is usually thought of as a longer term futuristic area may be emerging with a few companies to put on watch list. This area is Quantum computing.
Now a look into the technical aspects of quantum computing will show that this is a complex field to solve complex problems.
Quantum Computing Simplified:
Quantum computing uses the strange rules of quantum mechanics to process information in a completely new way. Instead of traditional bits (0s and 1s), it uses qubits, which can represent 0, 1, or both at the same time (a concept called superposition). This allows quantum computers to explore many possibilities at once, solving certain types of problems faster than classical computers. However, quantum computing is still in its early stages of development. There are significant challenges, such as maintaining stable qubits, reducing errors, and scaling up the technology, but its potential for breakthroughs involving new computational applications is enormous.
Some stock symbols to watch:
QUBT : Quantum Computing, Inc
QBTS : D-Wave Quantum Inc
RGTI : Rigetti Computing, Inc.
ASPI : ASP Isotopes (ASPI) (see note below on silcon-28)
There will likely be much more to post on the above stocks. They are suddenly emerging quickly as stocks with potential in quantum computing space, each in their own unique niche. As a side note, just a few weeks ago, the above were in the penny stock niche. They still are but have been surging higher. For that reason, as far as taking a position, we stick with our motto to acknowledge risk- watch stocks with maybe "none" -just watch , or maybe inching into "some", but not "too much". As stock fundamentals go, the above should be considered "spec stocks" and treated accordingly.
Other stocks to watch:
Altria Group, Inc (MO) : Good hold "some " stock and reinvest the over 7% divy. don't smoke - buy some on dips.
Kinross Gold (KGC) : found a base and looks like a solid stock to own some on gold mining that has shown increasing earnings , gold prices, and even a decent dividend for a miner.
Permian Resources (PR) : A change is coming in the US and nat gas valves will be reopened for business. It's a transition resource and a clean reliable energy source to power the national grid and to supply new LNG ports in America for exporting natural gas to the world.
MARA Holdings (MARA) : rising bitcoin has MARA moving.
Others: RIOT, CLSK.
Bitcoin miners may have their time in the sun for awhile, if the new government is more favorable to bitcoin and crypto in general. Can you trust the government on such issues? hmmmm? But for now, bitcoin is "hot" and that favors the bitcoin miners balance sheets.
ASP Isotopes (ASPI): scroll back to see highlight on ASPI. Will add that - ASPI is preparing to produce enriched silicon - 28 for use in advanced semiconductor applications including quantum computers.
... Many others on watch ..
For now, we close by noting that any view on the market and stocks on any particular day may change in the future days to come. That is why we watch and see how our views match up with the reality of the time. But trying to look ahead a few months into the future may be a way to do things. If you think too deep about world events and the recent alliances forming, projecting ahead can be a dicey endeavor. In all - we use the word maybe "some", not "too much" and play it accordingly. Remember, never get arrogant in our various notions because things do change in the market and individual stocks are subject to many factors outside of our control.. So we try to -stay aware.
With all the above caveats and attempted prognostications, I will close this post. Stay tuned for more opining on the market and stocks to watch.
